Academics
At Jackson College of Education, academia extends beyond the four walls of a classroom.
Jackson College of Education (JCE) is the teacher education division of the Jackson Educational Complex (JEC), headquatered in Kumasi. The College was established in the year 2009 as the first Private College of Education in Ghana to run a 3-year Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) through Distance Learning. Established by Prof. Ebenezer Asafua Jackson and Mrs. Theodosia Wilhelmina Jackson, both educationists, with over forty years of experience each as teachers in tertiary and secondary schools respectively, the College started with 3 learning centres in Kumasi, Akrokerri and Techiman. There are currently about 30 learning centres throughout Ghana.
Subsequently, upon the introduction of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Basic Education degree programme by the Government of Ghana for colleges of education in 2019, JCE introduced its 4-year B.Ed degree programme, and subsequently, a 1-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme aimed at providing opportunities to learners in the teaching field or any subject area to unearth their teaching skills in basic education.

THE BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.ED) PROGRAMME
The current policy directives for the Bachelor of Education in Basic Education (Early Grade, Upper Primary and JHS Specialisms), are geared towards the training of a teacher who would be able to teach at the early grade, upper primary and the junior high school levels. Teacher training programmes have been specially tailored to provide quality instruction necessary to meet society’s teacher demands and expectations.
THE POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PGDE) PROGRAMME
The Jackson College of Education, in its efforts to bring quality life-long learning experiences to aspiring and qualified persons, ascribes to utilise its expertise and resources to contribute towards the development of human resources that meet the needs and challenges of pre-tertiary and tertiary education in Ghana, in particular. The main thrust of the College, in offering a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education programme, through teaching, research and other educational engagement, rests on the resolve of the College to contribute to the training of non-education degree holders and personnel, with the view to turn them out into first-class professional teachers, educators and facilitators for various and diverse educational establishments.
